THE PICTURE OF THE VIRGIN

	The painting, Maria Regina degli Apostoli (Mary, Queen of Apostles), is the work of Girolamo D'Arena. It represents the Madonna sitting on three mountains, the Infant Jesus holding the world in his hands and the Apostoles Peter and Paul on either side. The painter, according to one report, painted the image of the Madonna only on Saturdays, on his knees and then only after receiving communion.
