FEAST
OF THE MADONNA OF THE MOUNTAINS On Pentecost Day, the 14th of May,
1606, Fr. Carafa celebrated the first Mass in the church
of the Madonna of the Mountains. The memory of that day
remains in the coat of arms of the Congregation which
shows three mountains (one of which is above the other
two) and the monogram of the Virgin (the letters M and A)
surmounted by the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove. And
so since then the Monday of Pentecost is celebrated as
the feast of the Madonna dei Monti. To this day the
tradition remains and vast numbers of the faithful come
to the sanctuary on this day.
