THE REFECTORY

	The refectory in the original building was built by the Pious Workers in the second half of 1600 but was destroyed in the 1688 earthquake. It was rebuilt, together with the kitchen and other rooms, between 1692 and 1693, further restored in the first half of 1800 and again more recently in 1913. In all this, its original austerity and splendour have been preserved.
